Quick Checks Before You Call

REPLACING A FAUCET

CONFIRM SINK OR COUNTER SETUP

Look under and around the sink to see how many holes you have (1, 3, or a wide “deck” plate). Note whether the faucet is mounted on the sink or directly in the counter. If you already bought a new faucet, make sure the hole pattern matches. If you’re not sure, a quick photo from above and below helps us quote the job.

SWAPPING A TOILET

CHECK THE ROUGH-IN

Measure from the finished wall (not the baseboard) to the centre of the toilet bolts or caps. Most Hamilton homes are 12 inches, but some older homes are 10 or 14. Having this measurement handy lets us confirm that your new toilet will fit and won’t sit tight against the wall.

NEW SINK OR LAUNDRY TUB

CHECK FOR A DRAIN & SHUTOFFS

Look for an existing drain, trap and water shutoff valves near where you want the sink or tub. If the plumbing is already there, it’s usually a simple fixture swap. If there’s no drain or valves, let us know—you may need new piping run or a larger project plan.

WATER UNDER A FIXTURE

CLEAR THE AREA & TEST SHUTOFFS

If you see water under a sink, toilet or laundry tub, empty the cabinet or area so we can get to the plumbing quickly. Gently turn the shutoff valves to see if they move and if the leak slows. If valves won’t turn or start to drip, don’t force them—just tell us when you book so we can plan to replace them.

UPGRADING SHOWER OR TUB TRIM

NOTE THE BRAND & TAKE A PHOTO

Look at the front of your shower handle or trim for a brand name or logo. Different valves need matching parts, so a clear photo of the handle and trim helps us confirm what will fit before we arrive. If you don’t see a brand, a couple of photos from different angles still help.

BIGGER PROJECT PLANNED

DECIDE IF IT’S A RENO OR A SWAP

If you’re moving walls, changing the room layout, or doing new tile and cabinetry, you’re likely in full-renovation territory and a general contractor should lead the job. If the fixtures are staying in roughly the same spots and you just want them updated, that’s the perfect time to call Greg’s for fixture installation and replacement.

What We Fix Today

Pick the issue below—no hot water, rusty tank, noisy heater, or a full upgrade to high-efficiency—and go straight to the fix.

FAUCET & SINK REPLACEMENT

Swap out leaking, dated, or hard-to-use faucets and sinks in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. We install the new fixture, update shutoff valves and supply lines, set proper traps, and silicone and level everything for a clean finish.

NEW KITCHEN & BATHROOM FIXTURES

Install new kitchen or bathroom taps, pull-down sprayers, bar sinks, and vessel or undermount basins. We match the fixture to your counter and sink cut-outs, check water pressure, and make sure sprayers, pop-ups, and drains work smoothly.

TOILET REPLACEMENT & RESETTING

Replace wobbly, cracked, or inefficient toilets with modern, water-saving models. We pull the old toilet, inspect and replace the wax ring or seal, reset the new fixture, secure it properly, and check for leaks and smooth flushing before we leave.

SHOWER & TUB VALVE INSTALLATIONS

Install or replace shower and tub valves, trims, and tub spouts. We set proper valve depth, make watertight connections, and test hot/cold balance and pressure so you get steady temperatures without drips or hammering pipes.

LAUNDRY, MUDROOM & UTILITY SINKS

Add or replace laundry tubs, utility sinks, and wall faucets. We connect drains and vents where available, install proper traps and standpipes, and make sure hoses and discharge lines are secure and code-compliant.

DISHWASHER & FRIDGE WATER HOOKUPS

Connect new dishwashers, fridge ice-makers, and filtered water taps to your existing plumbing. We install shutoff valves, braided supply lines, and drain connections so appliances run safely without leaks under cabinets or floors.

For like-for-like swaps and small upgrades, a licensed plumber is usually all you need. If you are moving walls, changing room layouts, or doing major tiling and cabinetry, a general contractor should lead the project and we can work with them on the plumbing.

Yes. Many Hamilton homeowners supply their own taps, toilets, and sinks. We just ask that you choose quality, CSA-approved fixtures and have all parts on site before the appointment. We can also supply fixtures if you prefer us to handle everything.

Yes. During fixture installation and replacement we inspect and, if needed, replace old shutoff valves, braided supplies, and traps so the new fixture is not connected to failing hardware. We will flag anything that should be upgraded while we are there.

Sometimes. Small shifts—like sliding a vanity or toilet a short distance—may be possible, but they often require new drains, vents, or framing work. We will let you know what is realistic, when a contractor is needed, and whether permits apply.

Simple replacements, such as a tap or toilet swap, are often completed in 1–2 hours once we are set up. Larger jobs with multiple fixtures or hidden issues can take longer. We give you a realistic time window and keep you updated if anything unexpected comes up.

Yes. We regularly install low-flow taps and toilets, comfort-height toilets, lever handles, and hand-held shower trims to make bathrooms easier to use and more efficient. Tell us your goals and we can recommend suitable fixtures.

Yes. We remove the old fixtures, packaging, and debris, wipe down the area, and leave the space tidy. If you would like to keep an old fixture, let us know before we start so we can set it aside for you.
